How do you automate social carousels?

Design one square slide in Canva, put each slide’s text on its own spreadsheet row, and generate the set. Layerre makes one image per row. It does not write the captions.

A carousel is a stack of images that have to stay in order and look like one design. Redrawing slide 4 because the hook changed is the part that does not scale. You can automate the images. You still write the captions. Layerre will not invent the copy.

Steps

  1. Design one square slide, usually 1080×1080. Use separate text boxes for the hook and the body line. Add a small text box for the slide number if you want "2 / 5" on the card.
  2. Add a row per slide, in the order you will upload them. Columns: slide, hook, body. A second carousel is a second group of rows, marked with a post column so you can tell the sets apart.
  3. Generate, then upload the images in that numeric order to Instagram or LinkedIn. The sheet order is the carousel order. Sort before you export.

One design, many posts

The same slide template can produce this week's product carousel and next week's hiring carousel. Only the sheet changes. If a post needs a different layout (a quote card versus a numbered list), that is a second Canva file, not another column.

What to check

Read the longest hook at phone size before you generate ten slides. A line that fits in Canva's editor often wraps off the card once the real copy arrives. Multi-page Canva files are a different path: automate multi-page Canva designs. Posting workflow: Instagram automation.
