How do you make welcome images for new employees?

Design one card in Canva and fill name, role, and photo from a spreadsheet. Layerre generates each card. Free is 50 credits. Starter is $15 a month for 500.

A new hire announcement is the same card every time: a photo, a name, a role, and a line that says welcome. The version people remember is the one that actually has that person's name on it, posted the morning they start, not a week later because someone was still duplicating the Canva page.

Steps

  1. Design a 1080×1080 card for Slack or a 1200×630 card for email. Leave holes for the name, the title, and a photo frame. Make the name wide enough for a long name.
  2. Put one person per row: name, role, team, start_date, photo_url. The photo URL has to be a public image file. A private HR drive link will render as an empty circle.
  3. Paste the Canva share link into Layerre and map those columns. If a whole cohort starts on Monday, Bulk Create in Canva is fine. If HR software adds people all month, trigger Layerre from Zapier, Make, or n8n when the record is created.
  4. Post the image in Slack or attach it to the welcome email that already uses the same row.

If there is no photo yet

Ship a second state of the template with initials instead of a portrait, and use that row's image until the photo lands. Waiting on a headshot is the usual reason the welcome card goes out late.

Free is 50 credits, which covers a small team's first hires. Starter is $15 a month for 500. Personalized images beyond welcomes: generate personalized images at scale.
