How do you use a CSV with Canva Bulk Create?

Create a CSV with a header row and one variant per data row. Columns map to text boxes or image frames. Save UTF-8, upload in the Bulk Create app (Canva Pro/Teams), map fields, generate, and download. Recurring CSVs are easier as a live Google Sheet plus Layerre.

Canva Bulk Create is a CSV (or spreadsheet) mail-merge for designs.

CSV rules:

  • Row 1: column names that match how you think about the template (headline, price, image_url)
  • Each following row: one finished design
  • UTF-8 encoding; commas inside copy wrapped in quotes
  • Image columns: public HTTPS URLs, not file paths on your laptop

In Canva:

  1. Open the design on Pro or Teams
  2. Apps → Bulk Create
  3. Upload the CSV
  4. Map columns to layers
  5. Generate, then download the set

Official-help vs automation:

Canva's help center covers the editor flow. It does not give you an API. If you regenerate from an updated CSV every week, import the same Canva file into Layerre and keep Google Sheets as the live table (automate Canva with Google Sheets, generate images from CSV). Photo columns are the usual snag (how to add images to Bulk Create), and Bulk Create limits show up faster once each row downloads a file.
