How do you add images to Canva Bulk Create?
Add a public HTTPS image URL column to your CSV or sheet, map that column to an image frame in the Canva design, then generate. Drive “view” links and private URLs usually fail. For recurring photo batches, pass img_url through Layerre instead of re-uploading in Bulk Create.
Text columns are easy in Bulk Create. Photos are the usual failure point.
In Canva:
- Put a dedicated image frame on the template (not a shape fill)
- Open Bulk Create and connect your CSV or sheet
- Map the photo column to that frame
- Generate and download
Data that works:
- Public
https://URLs that return JPEG or PNG bytes - One URL per row, one image per frame
Data that usually fails:
- Google Drive / Dropbox preview links
- Signed URLs that expire before Canva fetches them
- Embedding pictures inside Excel instead of a URL column

When the same catalog photos live in Shopify, Airtable, or a DAM, skip the manual fetch cycle and import the Canva template into Layerre so each row's img_url renders via Zapier, Make, n8n, or the API.
