What is Canva Automation?
Definition
Generating many versions of a Canva design from data (spreadsheet, form, or API) instead of duplicating the file by hand. Includes Canva Bulk Create, Canva Connect Autofill (Enterprise), and third-party APIs that import Canva templates.
Canva automation is the umbrella term for taking a Canva master and producing variants without clicking through every text box.
Three common implementations:
- Canva Bulk Create (Pro/Teams): CSV or sheet inside the editor. Manual start/download. No API. See Canva Bulk Create and is Bulk Create free?.
- Canva Connect API Autofill (Enterprise): official programmatic fill of brand templates. Async, Enterprise-only. See Canva Autofill and the Connect API autofill guide.

What you can automate:
- Social posts and ads from a product sheet
- Certificates and badges from an attendee list
- OG and featured images from CMS titles
- Localized campaigns (same layout, new language or price)
What Canva automation is not:
It is not Magic Studio generating a new layout from a prompt. Automation keeps the human-designed template and swaps approved fields. That is why brand teams prefer it over AI bulk image generators.
Getting started:
Design in Canva with one layer per changing field, put one variant per spreadsheet row, then choose Bulk Create for a one-off or Layerre when the job must recur or live in Zapier/n8n.
